Common Name: White Tail Deer
Latin Name: Odocoileus virginianus
Range: most of southern Canada and all of the mainland United States except two or three states in the west; throughout Central America to Bolivia.
Mature Weight: 175 – 250 Pounds
Diet: agricultural crops
Description: tan with the belly and underside of the tail totally white, white patch on throat
Notes: most abundant and most widely distributed big game animal in North America… somewhere between 8 and 15 million on this continent…prolific breeders…most males mate in second year…breeding occurs October-November
