7/20/95 Fri - Sat,Ptly Cloudy, winds NNW 15,water height Low,water temp 61, 30.33 S, East Lake, Trout & Kokanee, Wow, the wind was blowing strong again! Tried to fish Paulina Lake Friday afternoon but were kicked off because of the high winds.Forest Service wanting to use the Lake to dip water to fight fires. So, the whole first day was wasted. Went to East Lake Saturday early to avoid the Forest Service problems. Water very low extremely difficult to launch boat (ruined trailer). As you drive up the road to East Lake there are a couple of launch areas BEFORE the resort, don't use these if the boat is big! I didn't try the others down the road but I do know the one's before the resort are bad. Once on the lake I marked very few trout. In the deep section of the lake we did well on Kokanee running 13" using a piece of worm and corn. We used flashers with 1 oz lead "27 pulls" or 27 feet down. I think we could have done well wind trolling Paulina this way also but we were so beat up by the wind and cold at East Lake we decided to head home early. 6300 feet up sucks when it gets cold.
