Lake Simtustus(Oregon)

Here is a photo of the derby winning Kokanee I caught at lake Simtustus. May 2002.

Rick Martin of "The Local Fisherman News" took
the picture.

Lake Melones (California)

Here is a typical Kokanee from Lake New Melones here in central California. The bite continues to be wide open in the main body of water, the fish seem to be holding between 45' to 65' and will hit most any lure trailed behind a dodger if it is tipped with corn......received July 20, 2002

"The Kokanee action on Lake New Melones here in central California has really come alive the past couple of weeks and should remain good thru out the summer. "

Indian Valley Reservoir

KEN1.jpg (18773 bytes) Brian Braker of Danville, Ca. holds a huge kokanee from Indian Valley Reservoir in Northern California. This is one of many large fish in the 2 1/2--3 1/4 lb range that we landed over the Labor Day weekend (Sep 99').Photo was taken by Terry Hopper of Redding, Ca. Submitted by Brian's fishing partner, Ken Hopper of Walnut Creek,Ca.

Whiskeytown Reservoir (California)

whiskey.jpg (35857 bytes) These fish were small by Whiskeytown standards, 12-14 inches with the biggest running 15 1/2".The hot set up was a gold plated Vance's dodger w/ a red wedding ring trailing 12" -- 18" (w/ white corn of
course). Most fish were caught at 35 feet deep.      A few of the fish had some sort of parasite attached to their sides & 2 others had sores in the same area.

Detroit Reservoir (Oregon)

detroit.jpg (16766 bytes) Here's a 17" Kokanee we caught at Detroit Lake on Saturday the April 17th 1999.  We were trolling needlefish very fast less than 5ft. down when this one slammed us hard and misssed and then came right back again even harder.

Lucky Peak Reservoir (Idaho)

att00000.jpg (61185 bytes)

This is a picture of my 1st Kokanee caught at Lucky Peak Res. Idaho in Jan. '96. Trolling with a pink/blue and white florescent mepps behind a cowbell about 50 yards behind the boat. Lucky Peak is located about 15mi. east of Boise. I didn't get an accurate weight but the bathroom scale said about 6lb. and he was about 24 3/4" long.

Paulina Lake (Oregon)

catchmp.jpg (18162 bytes)   A fine mess of Paulina Lake Kokanee caught June 2, 1998 by Deral and friends.
catchmp2.jpg (19982 bytes)   Saturday Morning found the lake covered in a shroud of snow clouds and
the 1st 45 minutes were spent shoveling snow off the boat, then we proceeded
to try and fish a lake that had about 30 foot visability..... 1998
paul983.jpg (31812 bytes)   With only a 5 fish limit, fish like this make it worth the trip. 1998

Crescent Lake (Oregon)

cres97_4.jpg (77749 bytes)

Crescent lies just a few miles from Odell Lake. This pic was taken early in the morning 7-16-97.

cres97_2.jpg (242266 bytes)

This fine Kokanee is a prime example of the fine fishing at this lake. There aren't the numbers of Kokes like at Odell and some of the other lakes. But when you get one there's a good chance it's a nice fat one like this.

cres97_3.jpg (226300 bytes)

The previous pic almost cost me the drive home. This one rescued me. It measured 16 3/4 " and made the ride home much more pleasant. I hate driving :-)

cres97_5.jpg (104573 bytes)

Another pic of the previous. Wish I could catch a dozen like that.

cres97_8.jpg (98034 bytes)

Another pic of that very fine Crescent Lake Kokanee.

Lake Billy Chinook (Oregon)

bilkoke1.jpg (18115 bytes)

Nice Kokes from Lake Billy Chinook in July 1996. The fish were down around 90 feet and caught using the traditional wedding ring type spinner without the wedding ring and a silver coated blade by the island in the Metolius arm of the lake.

gpgiant.jpg (26013 bytes) This huge fish was caught by Mike Coburn on February 17, 2001. "Then, after reeling up approximately a couple of feet, I felt a "good" tug.     I thought, this feels like a good sized fish!!  It wasn't but a few seconds later that the fish decided to make a run for it! The other two fishing with me thought I had bottom.  I showed
them the action happening on my rod and the truth was known...you have a nice fish on!!!"
gpau9815.jpg (23355 bytes) A July caught Koke.
gpaug98.jpg (31710 bytes) A really good year, another fine fish.
gpaug981.jpg (30512 bytes) I thought the colors were especially nice on this one.
gpaug982.jpg (25836 bytes) Caught close to the "tubes", West end of the lake.
gpaug986.jpg (33441 bytes) One more in the net.

Odell Lake (Oregon)

odelkok1.jpg (31348 bytes)

A fine specimen from Oregon's most prolific Kokanee Lakes. This was caught using a Wedding Ring type spinner at 104 feet deep. July 1996

odelkok2.jpg (55460 bytes)

Got lucky with this one caught at 63 feet using a SEP'S Kokanee Kandy Lure (brass on back, pink and white on front) with corn (flavored with Anise) and red Potski egg.

odelkok3.jpg (21787 bytes)

A nice male Kokanee - July 1996 from Odell 104 feet deep. You can really see the spinner in this one.

odelkok5.jpg (41567 bytes)

Here I used a 3 1/2 inch jig with a piece of corn slung 3 1/2" below it. The jig attracts them to the corn. This one was at 135 feet!

odelkoke.jpg (36772 bytes)

Final sample of a Odell 12" plus Kokanee from 1996. A very good trip.
