Billy Chinook Reports 2002
April 27, 2002
I took a some what exciting trip
over the pass at three o clock this morning to try my luck at Billy Chinook.
Lots of snow and slippery roads. I finally got behind a couple of semi's that
had chained up and let them snow plow the road for me. The lake was beautiful as
usual, but the fishing(catching) was not quite as beautiful. I think the weather
front my of put them off. I managed three 12 to 14 inch kokes at 40 feet. There
were fish jumping all over the lake and there were fish all over the fish
finder, but they did not seem too interested in anything that I had to offer.
Never the less, it was a good day to get the boat back into the water and get
the lines wet. Very few people at the lake. It was nice compared to the traffic
during the summer. Hopefully my next trip will be to Odell in couple of weeks
and the catching should be, hope to be better.

Went to Lake Billy Chinook over the
weekend, weather was great, a little cold first thing in the morning. Fishing
was fair for me anyway. I averaged a fish an hour. That's not counting the ones
I lost on the way to the boat. I think about 50% of them were long line
releases. The fish where good size, 11 1/2" to 13 1/2" with most of them 12" and
fat. They where down about 25'. Got 98% of them trolling. Water was 51 degrees
and 54 degrees by the island.
