Crescent Lake
My fishing partner didn't show till 6 this morning and that put us at
the boat ramp at about 9 oclock. He ran boat while I tied up gear. We launched at
campground on other side of lake from the lodge (maybe where you fished) cruised the North
shoreline then cut across to Simax Beach where we intended to start fishing. About mid
lake we were asked for help by some people whos boat had called it quits. By the time we
towed them to the marina and made it back to Simax to start fishing it was 11:00
oclock.Marked some fish but no takers. From there we fished the North shore without
success, then decided to try fishing from Boy Scout Camp back to the truck and trailer.
1st bite of the day was there about 3 pm .Partner landed a fat 16 1/4 inch koke and had
major attitude change about calling it a day....( biggest Koke put on the boat this year)
We fished till 5 and he got 2 more bites. Landed both, 12+ incher and one about 9-10
inches. He ended the day with 3 more bites than me. (3 to 0) That was it ..end of our
fishing story.
Made some major mistakes in my get ready for trip....Because of the weather forecast I
left the boat top at home and went wearing a pair of shorts, T shirt, and sandals. I took
a sweatshirt and insulated black nylon sweatpants along for the morning chill, thinking we
would be getting there close to daybreak...... Well ...........by 12 oclock we were
starting to cook, by 1oclock the leaving of the boat top and additional clothing choice
errs had become apparent ( no place out of the sun and only way to cover up was cold
weather wear) by 2 we had used a whole bootle of sunscreen, and 1/2 hour later we were
making a last run towards the trailer.
We decided staying the night in our "EXTREMELY TAN " condition, only to be faced
with the same predicament tomorrow (Minus Sunscreen) made getting in the truck and driving
back home tonight sound like a wonderful trip.....
Sound pretty awful ?????????????????????
It was Great.........No Wind----None-----All Day..........Handling the boat was a snap for
the 1st time since I don't remember when. It made the whole day worth it. Too bad I felt I
couldn't handle so much joy two days in a row....Ha Ha....

Crescent Lake
Had a heck of a time deciding where to fish this week. Oregon has so
many good places to fish. In the end we prepared to fish Wickiup, Odell, and Billy
Chinook. I tried to get my wife to make up my mind for me but she wouldn't do it. In the
end we made our decision when we came to the fork in the road. My wife said, "Oh
heck, lets try something different". So we pulled into Crescent Lake in time to be on
the water around 4:00 pm. I figured it would be a good time to scout out the water and get
a feel for the lake. Ten minutes later my wife landed our first Crescent Lake Kokanee, a
nice fat 14 1/2 "er. We weren't marking very many fish on the finder. But we landed a
Koke about every 15 minutes for the first hour and ended up with a total of six kept fish
for the afternoon(evening). My wife made a big production out of the fact that she had the
biggest fish, a nice fat 16"er. But I made her drive home when I landed a 16
3/4"er. the fishing looked encouraging. I thought the next morning would be terrific
and could hardly sleep that night ( or maybe that was because I forgot my pillow).
Anyways, we were on the water by 6:00am trolling away. The boat acted funny like it did
not want to start at the beginning of the day. Five fish later it did not start. We ended
up using the trolling motor to motor back to the boatramp and pull the boat out before the
wind came up. We had a great time. Now all I have to do is get the boat to the repair shop
and figure out why it wouldn't start before the summers out!
Put some pics on the Gallery page you might want to check out.

Suttle Lake
Drove up to Suttle Lake on June 17 ariving at about 6am. I anchored at
the east end of the lake off the cinder beach in 42 feet of water. Fishing was good till
about 10am using corn and red eggs. I caught 12 and lost at least that many more. Tried
jigging but got very few hits and other boats that were trolling didn't seem to be doing
very well, 4 or 5 fish per boat for the ones I talked to.

Suttle Lake
I decided to take a chance on the weather and venture up high to trout
fish today. The lake I wanted to fish was iced in so I stopped at Suttle
Lake. I thought I had packed some corn in my tackle box just for a change of plans
like this. But I had not. So there I was on Suttle with no corn and my small one man boat.
Early on the lake was fairly calm. I bait jigged Potski eggs and a small white Buzz Bomb.
On almost every drop I had a bite. They were VERY hard to detect and hook. I went through
1 1/2 jars of eggs in no time. The fishing was very good for Kokanee
in the 10 1/2 to 11 inch range. Everyone appeared to be catching fish.
It was a beautiful day. Looks like a good year for Suttle lake if you don't mind fish of
this size. I don't.
