Mossyrock Park:
Mossyrock Park is on a man-made lake behind a dam about 25 miles East of
Centralia, WA. It is run by Tacoma City Light, and is a great family-type campground,
pretty and manicured, and a hot shower is pretty nice sometimes.
I Generally spend the last week of August there with the family. Good luck
from the shore, but last year I got a boat, and improved our odds a bit. A fairly
successful way is to tie up near the cable and floats that block access to Mossyrock Dam
and use a slip bobber about 60 feet down. (The fish finder works a miracle at this
point...) The fish seem to go for chunks of shrimp or worm, and sometimes corn.
Generally 11 or 12 inch in size, you can limit in about an hour on a good day. We
have caught a couple small ones trolling, but I am a total newbie at it. I picked up a
downrigger over the winter, and I'm hoping that the fish finder and the downrigger is as
deadly a combination as I have heard. Gary Litwin
